Come Walk with the Authors on Walk #14 of 17: The Mission. Authors Kristine Poggioli & Carolyn Eidson are leading all 17 walks from their new hit book, “Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive.” Space is limited to 12 people so that participants can get to know each other and the authors along the 2- to 3-hour guided walks.
Sunday, February 19 we will be walking miles 40-41 of SF’s historic scenic loop, Walk #14, which includes 1.9 miles of the 49-mile route as well as a 1.9-mile loop back to the starting point totaling 3.8 miles. Optional Muni ride (bring $2.25) back to the start is available to participants at the 1.9-mile point.
Though we begin at the intersection of Market & 14th & Church Streets, the official route is nearly entirely on Dolores Street, including Mission Dolores and Mission Dolores Park, with a detour to the Golden Fire Hydrant that saved the area during the 1906 quake and fire. The grand boulevard is an undulating path with one very steep section. As a bonus, we’ll take a fun Victorian architecture tour along the way. (read pgs 184-191 for a quick primer!)
Then we will walk back through the more famous latin section of Mission, Mission Street, and the trendy Valencia Corridor.
The authors will share stories from the book along the way. We suggest you wear layers, a hat, and bring water.
LIMIT 12 WALKERS
BONUS: Ticket amount of $10 deducted from onsite book purchases
