Saturday, February 18 we will be walking the second segment of SF’s historic scenic loop, Walk #2, which includes 2.5 miles of the 49-mile route as well as a 2.0-mile loop back to the starting point totaling 4.5 miles. Optional Muni ride (bring $2.25) back to the start is available to participants at the 2.5-mile point.
We begin in front of Chinatown’s Dragon Gate, veer up the steep climb to Nob Hill, flip around past the Cable Car Barn, back to Portsmouth Square, then on to North Beach, with a side trip up, up, up to Coit Tower, with a glimpse at Lombard “the Crookedest” Street, before ending at Fisherman’s Wharf. Then we will walk back along the Embarcadero (Pier 39) and up Sansone Street back to the Chinatown Gate.
The authors will share stories from the book along the way. We suggest you wear layers, a hat, and bring water.
