Come Walk with the Authors on Walk #5 of 17: Golden Gate Bridge to Lands End. Authors Kristine Poggioli & Carolyn Eidson are leading all 17 walks from their new hit book, “Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive.” Space is limited to 12 people so that participants can get to know each other and the authors along the 2- to 3-hour guided walks.
Saturday, April 22 we begin at San Francisco’s most famous spot, the Golden Gate Bridge, and head from the Presidio ocean cliffs into the City’s wild Outsidelands. In days gone by, this area was just scrubland, sand dunes, cemeteries, and stunningly beautiful ocean views! Now the beautiful ocean views are lined by the beautiful cliffside mansions of the Sea Cliff district and end at a 3/4 replica of Paris’ Palais de la Legion d’Honneur.
This is a hilly walk, with a short trail detour.
The walk-back is one of the best on the 49-mile route. If you are in good shape, and have extra time, you’ll be well rewarded on this completely off-road hike across Baker Beach up and down and up and down the beach cliff ladders back to the Golden Gate Bridge. But, as always, you can hop on Muni to ride back to the start (bring $2.25), or head off on your own adventure at the end of the main walk.
The authors will share stories from the book along the way. We suggest you wear layers, a hat, and bring water.
LIMIT 12 WALKERS
BONUS: Ticket amount of $10 deducted from onsite book purchases
