17 Romantic Walks in San Francisco

What is more romantic than a walk with your sweetheart? A romantic Walk in San Francisco.

The greatest gift we can give those we love is intimate time together. In fact, taking a walk is one of my favorite dates and I’m always looking for a new place to explore together.

One of the main reasons I love walking as a date is that we talk and connect in a way that’s different from sitting at home or in a restaurant. There’s something about sharing an adventure and looking at the landscape that takes some pressure off of gazing into each other’s eyes. Walks are great for bringing out our introverted side, and over the course of a long walk, an hour or more, there can be everything from comfortable periods of silence to discussions and memories about the area, to navigating logistics or commenting on the scenery to break the ice for deeper conversations. (And I can’t remember ever coming back from a walk in a bad mood.)

My ♥ is all over San Francisco…

If walks are romantic then a walk in San Francisco is a lovers dream come true.

Sunset-Ocean-Beach-San Francisco-walk-5Being a romantic at heart, walking in San Francisco is a dream.  The neighborhoods, the streetcars, the vistas, the waterfronts, the bridges, the cafes, the list is long.  If you’re wondering about the perfect gift for your sweetheart—might I suggest a walk along San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic drive.

“Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive” – is a new guidebook for really seeing San Francisco.  Described by San Francisco Book Review as “one of the best and most unique travel books out there.”

The bow and arrow sculpture installed along the Embarcadero, “Cupid’s Span,” was created by married artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen and inspired by San Francisco’s reputation as a city of love.

When we wrote this book, we were seeking more activity and we wanted to explore new parts of San Francisco. We made walking the 49 miles scenic drive a one-year goal. We found lots of new things and we connected on a deeper level. By getting away from the “screens” (facebook, email, texts) we talked and shared an adventure. We had such a profound experience that we HAD to write this book for all the lovers of San Francisco.

So, give it a try. Take your special someone out for a walk, or many walks, this year.

Happy Valentine’s Day San Francisco Lovers.
